The 7th plentymarkets Congress powered by ebay took place on February, 15th 2014 and attracted more than 1,200 to the Kongress Palais Kassel. The event boasted 35 lectures and more than 60 exhibitors and the Audience Award ceremony at the huge Congress party in the evening was a particular highlight of the day. All visitors had the chance to vote for one of the 40 nominees during the exhibition day. The lucky winners of the night were AKF Shop and their design agency Createyourtemplate.

CEO Jan Griesel opened the Congress with his keynote address and surprised visitors by entering the hall accompanied by palace guards and the Drum and Brass Band Kassel. In January, plentymarkets opened a new office in London. Thus, "Internationalization" was the main motto of this year's event. Visitors were able to marvel at palace guards, patrolling bobbies and an original London Sightseeing bus and to be chauffeured in a black cab or have a Buckingham Palace photo shoot in front of a greenscreen.

In his key note address, Jan Griesel not only spoke about the technical innovations of the plentymarkets software, but also presented impressive figures for the fiscal year 2013: Our more than 3,000 plentymarkets sellers turned over 2.15 billion euros worth of goods on the plentymarkets platform. The German E-Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association (bvh) recently estimated a total online sales turnover of 39.1 billion euros. This means that plentymarkets held a 5.49 % share of the German e-commerce market. And we are planning to increase this market share even further in 2014.

"This extremely successful day would have been impossible without the support of our partners, exhibitors and many interested visitors. I'd like to thank all of them. I'm already looking forward to next year's Congress, which will take place on February, 28th 2015", said Patricia Haaf, CMO at plentymarkets GmbH.

All lectures were well attended and offered something for everyone. E-commerce experts gave lectures about current and exciting topics such as cross-border trade and responsive design. No questions remained unanswered.

The atmosphere was also buzzing during the Congress Party where, true to the day's UK motto, the Tom Browne Band played many a British hit. The after-show party ended pretty early in the morning and our visitors agreed: Next year we'll head back to Kassel!
