Successful online stores know the power of Facebook marketing. Facebook is by far the largest and most important social network in terms of its number of fans, activity and reach. But Facebook marketing needs to be done correctly. It takes more than just simply being on the platform to be successful. The following tips will help you make the most of Facebook - for your own store as well as for your customers.

Tip 1: Exclusive products for fans

While it's technically possible to embed entire online stores on Facebook, this blog entry assumes that you want to use Facebook in addition to your online store. One popular marketing tactic is to highlight individual products in a weekly special on Facebook- similar to the way that grocery stores offer certain products in their weekly sales.

First, you will need to decide whether these products should be available for all visitors or only for fans of your page. In the first case, you are able to reach a larger number of potential customers. But in the second case, you show your fans that they are valued and your fans will in turn view your products as more exclusive.

Tip 2: Encourage interaction

Social networks are not primarily intended for shopping. Rather, users are encouraged to chat and share content. Your own Facebook marketing campaign meets this goal if users share your products and recommend your items to their friends. Make sure your fans know that they can create surveys with two or more product images next to each other. Fans can then share these surveys with their friends and get feedback if they want advice on which product to buy.
Interaction also means taking time to answer your visitors' comments and questions.

Tip 3: Focus on more than just making a sale

Your customers will likely get annoyed if they feel like you are constantly bombarding them with deals and products from your online store. Add some variety to your content. For example, let satisfied customers speak or use surveys to include your fans when developing new products. "Behind the scenes" videos are another way to personalize your online store and use Facebook marketing to get your customers involved.

Facebook is much more than just an extension of your online store. Your fans can share your individual, high-quality content and gradually go from being fans to customers. Tie your customer service into the social network as well to make sure that these new-found customers remain loyal to your company in the future.
