Our stock management options haven't changed much over the past few years. But now all that's about to change! We've assembled a team to rethink and improve this area of plentymarkets. They've already taken their first step by remodling the storage location functions. These new options are now available to all customers who use plentymarkets 7 in Terra.

Stock management

What's new?

The new storage location options make it easier than ever to customise your warehouse settings. Now you can work with up to ten dimensions (e.g. hall, zone, rack, shelf etc.) and give them all customised names. We've also made it much less tedious to generate several storage locations at once. Furthermore, you can use a preview function to quickly see whether your storage locations were created correctly. But that's not all! We're also planning to add a few more features, such as:

  • a graphic overview of the storage locations
  • the ability to characterise storage locations, e.g. to specify their size as small, medium, large, etc.
  • the availability of storage locations
  • the ability to add or change your warehouse structure again in the future

Of course, existing storage locations will not be affected. When we released the new function, your existing storage locations were automatically switched over to the new logic.

You can find further information about setting up a warehouse in our online manual: https://knowledge.plentymarkets.com/en/stock-management/setting-up-a-warehouse

Two-week beta phase

We found ten customers to help us test the new storage location functions during a two-week beta phase. These ten customers run businesses of all sizes and they were happy to try out the new storage location functions during these two weeks. Thanks to them, we were able to fix as many bugs as possible before releasing the new feature in stable. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the beta customers who helped us out.

What's changed?

The new storage location functions went hand in hand with a few other changes in plentymarkets.

  • Dynamic import/export

The "Warehouse" format was discontinued for the dynamic import and dynamic export. Instead, a new "Warehouse" format was created for both the ElasticSync and for the ElasticExport.

  • SOAP

The SOAP calls "GetWarehouseItem" and "GetWarehouseStorageLocation" no longer return data for the fields "StorageLocationRackID", "StorageLocationRackName", "StorageLocationShelfID" and "StorageLocationShelfName".

Racks and storage locations are no longer returned for the SOAP call "GetRacksList". All of the storage locations for a warehouse are now included in a "Default Rack" and "Default Shelf".

  • REST

    New REST routes: https://developers.plentymarkets.com/rest-doc#/Warehouse

    Old REST routes: https://developers.plentymarkets.com/rest-doc#/StockManagement

  • Mobile Warehouse

What's next?

Now that we've released the new storage location options, we're planning to add "best before dates" and batch numbers to our arsenal of stock management functions.
